Yeosu the city of Mountains and Seas

Updated: Aug 24, 2022

I have really been blessed with the number of trips I'm able to go on while I'm here in South Korea. this time It was just two of us me and Kimberly who went on a trip. Yeosu is the southern tip of Korea opposite of Busan so more on the West Coast. Yeosu is known for its Seafood and Ocean View but we really didn't plan too much to go on during our trip. We stayed at a small Guesthouse chain called 24 Guesthouse and we were pleasantly surprised by how clean it was and the breakfast was good, the bathroom was not the nicest though but it was totally fine for the three nights we slept there. Most of our Korean friends have told us about this city to visit and we had a few attractions on the list.

On our first day we got on a plane at 9 a.m. and arrived in Yeosu in 1 hour, but the area where we were staying with another hour bus ride away from the airport. We then walked around our area which is right in the center of the Yeosu 2014 expo. We got a quick lunch since we were starved since being awake at 6 a.m. to make it to the airport, and went to this little island you can walk to and looked at the ocean and took lots of pictures and there were very pretty camellias. We were really tired so we went back to our hostel and took an hour-long nap before we got some dinner and went on the cable car that goes across the city and in the evening it was absolutely beautiful the lights were so pretty. We ended the Night by eating chicken on the rooftop of our hotel and drinking a wine cooler while looking at the lights.

The second day was more of an adventure, we took a bus to a different island of Yeosu (they're mostly interconnected with Bridges) and it was the very edge of an island so we were on the bus for an hour and a half through the twistiest roads I've ever been on in a bus, and the scariest roads I have ever been on in a bus. We were taking this bus to a famous Buddhist temple along the ocean and wow it was worth it even though we went up so many stairs to get to it and through multiple caves as well. That was beautiful and we ate some ice cream and got Korean snacks as well. We tried to get some seafood out of the tent bar but it was super busy and very expensive so we got seafood soup instead with so many clams that we couldn't even finish them I did not enjoy it particularly that much but I think I just got sick of the clams because there was way too many. We walked along the oceanfront on a boardwalk, but it's not really known for beaches it's known for like cargo shipping instead.

On our final day, we went to a rail bike which I have found out to be one of the most fun things ever, and it was right next to the ocean so as we were peddling on our little cart we could look at the blue ocean and boats floating in the distance many people waved at us and said hello. It was very sweet to have lots of children greeting us! There was a beach nearby that had black sand but it was really grayer and Kimberly and I stayed there for so long that we even got some free food from a vendor. I got one of the worst sunburns of my life and a mask tan. To complete the day we went to the center of a city and hiked up to a Lookout Point it was really pretty and then had some of the best pasta and risotto ever with duck I guess I just enjoyed duck contrary to seafood. There was a boat fireworks show every night at 8 and 8:30 and we made sure to watch both of them from two different angles it was so pretty and an amazing way to wrap up our trip.

I just am in awe at being able to plan these things or just travel in general in a country where I don't even know the language very well we didn't have to use a translator of course Kimberly mostly was helping most of the speaking but still the fact that we can buy tickets for stuff so easily and I've made a bank transfer for the first time ever as well and then 1 week from today I will also be on another trip look out for that!!!
